Art at HFA for Home School Kids

Classes Held 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10:30 to 12:00 pm.

Ages 5-12 Kindergarten-6th grades.
Pick the dates that fit in your schedule and sign up for those individually.

We meet 1st & 3rd for art making. Registration is for each class.  Each class will focus on a specific artist/culture/movement and art making techniques that correspond to the lesson.

Registration ends the day before class.  This year we will assess a $5 drop-in charge for last minute attendees.  While we enjoy your kids participating, we need to make sure we have adequate supplies so we encourage pre-registering.

Registration price covers all supplies.
Types of art kids will experience: Drawing, painting, sculpting, paper crafts, textiles, etc.

What to bring:
Please send kids with a water bottle, and clothes that can get messy.  All art supplies are provided by the studio.

Studies have shown that children who are exposed to the arts have higher academic achievement, are more socially aware, and are better equipped to express themselves verbally.

For your young artist, this session could be the one that opens up a world they never knew existed.

Students will learn about famous artists as well as lessor-known contemporary ones.  Each class has a intellectual exploration to put the inspiration art into context.

Application of concepts and developing skills in processing, planning, designing, and implementing their own art is encouraged.

This unique approach to an art class is not your traditional ceramics studio stuff.  It will challenge students to learn, think critically, and then take that knowledge one step further by applying it to create their own pieces of art. Led by an art teacher with 26 years art teaching experience.

In going through this experience together, kids will build friendships with fellow students and learn about the unique experiences and communities each brings to the studio. There will be open discussions and an expectation of courtesy and open-mindedness from all students.
